Please reach us at reception@ivesmedicalpractice.com.au, if you cannot find an answer to your question.
When you book online, you can select a specific consultation type (eg a flu vaccine or a cervical screen), a 15-minute general consultation or a longer consultation. We recommend a longer consultation if you have several issues or a complex problem.
Home Visits
Where it is safe and appropriate, our doctors may, at their discretion, conduct visits to regular patients in their homes, aged care or residential facilities, or hospitals both during and outside standard working hours. Our practice has defined a local area within which such visits are considered reasonable. Visits outside this area may be arranged at the discretion of the treating doctor, provided prior agreement is made. All home or off-site visits are scheduled and confirmed by the patient’s treating GP. After the visit, the GP is responsible for updating the patient’s medical record accordingly.
Walk-In Appointment Policy
Our practice accommodates walk-in patients when appointment slots are available. If no same-day appointments are available, patients will be offered the next available appointment on an alternative day. All walk-in patients presenting with urgent medical needs are triaged by clinical staff in accordance with clinical urgency and are offered an appropriate appointment based on the outcome of the triage assessment.
Telehealth Services
At Ives Family Practice, patients can book their telehealth appointments either by contacting the practice directly or by using our online appointment system via Automed or HotDoc. Telehealth is a convenient and secure way to access care from home, especially for services such as renewed prescriptions, ongoing referral letters, and routine care. To book online, simply visit our website, select "Telehealth" as the appointment type, choose your preferred provider and time, and complete your details. You’ll receive a confirmation with a secure video link for your virtual consultation. All you need is a device with internet access, a camera, and a quiet space. For phone bookings or assistance, please contact our friendly reception team.
To ensure the best care for all our patients, doctors are unable to take phone calls while consulting with another patient. If your call is not related to a medical emergency, our reception team will take a message and forward it to the appropriate doctor through our secure messaging system. Emails sent to the practice are checked daily and directed to the relevant healthcare provider electronically. Please note that we do not accept email requests for referrals, medical certificates, or repeat prescriptions.
To maintain high standards of care, our doctors are required to assess the ongoing suitability of repeat medications and referrals. This means a brief consultation either in person or via telehealth is necessary before these can be issued.
Medical examinations for your driver’s license and other purposes require special bookings with the doctor or nurse. When booking online, please select the appropriate option, or if booking over the phone, explain the type of medical exam to our receptionist. Bring any necessary forms with all relevant sections completed in advance, along with a form of identification such as your driver’s license and, if applicable, your glasses.
Procedure appointments may be deferred to another time based on the doctor’s assessment. Your doctor will advise if this is necessary, and will advise of any fees that may be incurred.
While the practice is committed to scheduling appointments at realistic intervals, there may be an increased waiting time due to one of the following:
Ives Family Practice Doctors are independent practitioners and they bill privately. This means patients will be charged a fee that is higher than the Medicare rebate for their consultation, in other words the Medicare rebate patients receive after paying their bill will only cover part of the total cost. These billing arrangements apply to both face-to-face and telehealth (video and phone) consultations. For more information regarding the billing policy, please click on the following link.
Cancellations: If you are unable to attend your scheduled doctor or nurse appointment, please contact us as early as possible to reschedule or cancel. We require at least 2 hours’ notice for cancellations.
Doctors:
Nurses:
These charges apply to late cancellations or missed appointments and are not eligible for the Medicare rebate.
If you are running late, please call us to check if it is possible to fit you in or to arrange another suitable time. Our staff will do their best to accommodate your needs, but being late can be unfair to other patients who may be delayed as a result.
Please schedule an appointment if you need referrals, medical certificates, or repeat prescriptions. Doctors at Ives Family Practice have a duty of care to ensure that any repeat medications or referrals remain appropriate, which requires a short consultation. Urgent appointments can generally be made for the same day. Please note that doctors cannot backdate medical certificates under any circumstances.
Please click on the transfer of medical records link and submit it to your current practice.
